It is that time again! How is Rebecca Minkoff going to top the last fashion show? With this one of course! Here are the true to form RM looks for Spring, and exclusive, celebrity clad access to the BACKSTAGE and AFTER PARTY. You know by now that Rebecca Minkoff is a driving force in the fashion scene…..and will be for a very very long time….

REBECCA MINKOFF FW11 MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK

We are so thrilled to see Rebecca’s smashing success with her very first Mercedes-Benz runway show at the Lincoln Center on February 11, 2011. Hundreds of fashionistas showed up, and the review have been outstanding.

The Fall 2011 apparel collection is inspired by Charlotte Kemp Muhl, who is known for her effortless street style and her relationship with Sean Lennon. The couple, known as The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger, performed at the show. As Rebecca’s interview with WSJ blog revealed that she ”used Ms. Kemp Muhl’s multi-faceted career as inspiration. ‘She’s a singer, a songwriter, she’s a musician. She’s also a model,’ Ms. Minkoff said. ‘What girl secretly doesn’t want to have that rock ‘n roll lifestyle?’ “

The collection is a mix of ’70s rock n roll glam, with modern feminine silhouette. Soft fabrics, slouchy sweaters, furs, tonal jackets and skinny jeans captured the essence of the cool girl in Rebecca.

Last but not least of course we won’t forget the handbags that put RM as a household name. The bags followed the same vibe – feminine, lady-like, and smaller in size compared to the mega-bags day a year ago. A very refreshing collection indeed!

Ekatrina Gallery Opening in Seoul, Korea

As we know, Cathy Lee from Ekatrina has everything going for her. From professorship, publishing, her very own handbag and jewelry line, and mingling with who’s who at cool parties. What else does she need? Well, she opened a gallery to showcase the brand’s full line in Seoul just last month. One of our very own Asia Manager, Wendy, was there. Meet the designer! Ekatrina at Henri Bendel Sept 19 – 21

So how many of us actually get to meet and talk to the designer, and completely feel immersed in the designer’s vibe and energy? Well, here is your chance. The famous designer Cathy Lee from Ekatrina will be holding a trunk show at Henri Bendel in NYC on Sept 19 – 21, from 10am to 8pm.

The bags at the show will be from this current season, complete with on-trend neutral shades with a pop of gem tones. lady like and sophisticated, you can find the bag you will carry from day to that after dark soiree. Once you had one of Cathy’s bags, you will go back for more. I guarantee!

And I know you know where the store is, don’t pretend. But just in case if you need to give an out of town driver or cabbie the pertinent information, Henri Bendel is located at 712 Fifth Ave. All your favorite styles will be there; as we endearingly call them Christine, Audry, Kay, Georgia….

Botkier’s Ava is a Bad Girl

Botkier Shoes are Kick-ass

We, the girls at Skinmint, are shoe fanatics. So when Botkier came out with shoes about two years ago we all couldn’t help but wonder, how is it compare to our Manolos, Jimmys, Louboutins and YSLs of the world? Well, hold your breath no more, I think Botkier by now has proven itself to be worthy of the crown. Which is, of course, to grace the feet of Your Royal Highness…moi.

Royal jokes aside, Monica’s shoes do look and feel like a couture brand – they are made in the same factory as Jimmy Choo in Italy, using the best leathers and painstakingly put together by craftsman only known to us as the Italians. At half the price of Louboutin, why wouldn’t I choose Botkier? A recent article in the August issue of FN resonates how we feel about Monica’s shoes. Rock on Monica, keep them shoes coming!

My Lucky Star, the Moni Moni Splendor Glamour in Vanilla Sky

According to the Chinese Astrology with the balance of the 5 elements within the Yin Yan theory (metal, water, wood, fire, and soil), my 2010 lucky element is “metal”. Metal within the Yin Yan theory literally represents “me”. Hopefully this means I’ll be fairly lucky this year rather than to mean I’m going to be a self absorbed, selfish little snob; keeping my fingers cross for the first one!!

Nevertheless with good there is always bad and they say the element with the highest weight is the least desirable which mine is “wood”. Wood represents “money” within the Yin Yan theory. This is not good news for me!

However to deflect the negative effects of the “wood” element; there are a list of things I can do to overcome my luckless element. One of them is to wear/carry something white often. This one is easy for me; look at that beautiful buttery soft leather Moni Moni Splendor Glamour bag in the color Vanilla Sky. Yeap give me one of those please!

Speaking of Brook Shields (as she is the spokesperson for Latisse, the FDA approved eyelash growth serum), I just received my Latisse and I’m hoping in 2 months my eyelashes will grow out thick and long like weeds! One of my friends told me her friend used Latisse and her eyelashes grew so long that she had to cut them off!! We’ll see if Latisse has the same effect for me; either that or I’ll have discolored pigmentation on the eyelid and a severe case of dry eyes! The price chicks pay for beauty!
